The programme will run from July 2018 to July 2019 and starts with a week long drama programme. Further fun events including a trip to The Titanic Centre and We Are Vertigo will also be held later in the year. All leaders are fully Garda Vetted in accordance with Swanlinbar Development Association Child Protection Policy.
This initial programme is for 1 week starting Monday 31 July to Friday 3 August from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm in the Swanlinbar area with a performance on Friday 3 August at 2.00 pm to which family members will be invited. Participants need to be free to attend every day in order to ensure that they have completed all activities for the final performance. The drama summer school will involve a range of learning methods (music, dance, language etc) aside from drama to help instil heritage, culture and mutual respect into the programme and the participants who take part. The play chosen will be based on The Titanic and is part of the Ulster Scots Agency Pat and Plain series written by Dan Gordon. The drama will be delivered in in a way whereby the participants will be inspired to learn about their different heritage and history in a safe environment using drama as a learning tool. Ulster Scots and Irish language and traditions will be woven into the performance.
